What’s your AI rank?
I invite you to find out.
First, here’s how I built the assessment and what the experience taught me.
Why I Built It
I wanted to lead with value: give growth-minded leaders a practical way to reflect on their AI fluency and identify where to improve.
I also wanted to draw leaders into Special Ops, my community inside Elite Ops Academy, where we work on becoming and remaining AI-fluent. For people who aren’t ready for membership, subscribing to In Pursuit of Elite offers another way to keep learning.
The vision was to design and build a top-tier interactive quiz that reflected the quality of Special Ops. I spent time and energy refining the calculations and recommendations so the resulting plan would be useful. The visual identity and full experience needed that same care.
The Tools Behind It
Four tools supported the experience:
Squarespace housed the website and landing page.
Interact powered the quiz, scoring, and results.
Zapier helped ensure people received their rank email even if they already subscribed to the newsletter or retook the assessment.
beehiiv supported the ongoing newsletter relationship.
The schematic below shows how the tools fit together, along with the AI and human review that helped refine the experience.

Directing the Work
As an experiment, I used ChatGPT’s desktop app to build the website, landing page, and quiz funnel. We collaborated on the design upfront, then ChatGPT handled the foundational build. Polishing that work through prompting was delightful.
I described what I wanted, reviewed the work, and directed changes. I made a few lightweight manual edits, but most of my refinement happened through conversation.
Across three threads and over 15 hours of work, I contributed roughly 10,000 words of direction, feedback, and supporting material, including pasted feedback. Much of my direction came through voice dictation, a massive productivity unlock.
I used the ChatGPT desktop app for work involving my local files and signed-in browser, while the web app handled independent tasks in parallel. With multiple monitors, I could track progress while doing other work, checking in when AI needed feedback or authorization.
After substantial token consumption, I also switched to a more cost-effective model that still handled the work well.
I already knew Squarespace. But I didn’t have to learn Interact or work through the beehiiv and Zapier connections myself. I directed that time-consuming work through AI. It also felt a bit surreal to glance at ChatGPT building the What’s Your AI Rank? website in Squarespace while I worked on other high-value tasks.
My estimate: without AI, this project could easily have taken four times as long. My role remained setting the standard, checking the result, and making decisions to improve quality.
Better Ideas Emerged Along the Way
I added training videos to make the concepts more tangible and sliders in the profile graphics to make the results easier to interpret.

ChatGPT helped create graphics and the website logo using the existing Elite Ops color palette. It also suggested making the scoring more transparent, something the original design lacked.
I brought ideas and judgment. AI contributed improvements I could evaluate and refine as I orchestrated the work.
Human Testing Was Essential
I extensively used the Elite Ops synthetic focus group to challenge the messaging and design. Its simulated roles and priorities helped surface different perspectives. My team of Grok Bot agents also tested the experience for friction and conversion barriers.
I found both useful, but real people still needed to test it.
One 100% human tester noticed that the original results email provided most of the information but sent people back to the website for the full details. She questioned why the email couldn’t simply include everything.
She was right. I directed ChatGPT to put the full results in the email.
A working flow can still make people work too hard. AI testing broadened my review. Human testing caught an unnecessary step.
Your Turn
Take the What’s Your AI Rank? assessment.
Treat your result as a starting point for reflection, then choose one recommendation to put into practice.
Think about a project you’ve postponed because learning the tools felt burdensome. Describe the outcome to your AI platform of choice. Ask for a staged plan with review checkpoints, then direct, verify, and refine the work.
If you want ongoing guidance and community as you put AI to work, explore Special Ops inside Elite Ops Academy.
Here’s to expanding what you can execute,
